Brendale BESS

Akaysha Energy operates the 205MW/410MWh Brendale BESS in Brisbane, QLD’s outer northern suburbs, directly connected to the South Pine substation to support the stability and reliability of Southeast Queensland’s electricity network.

Brendale plays a critical role in supporting the National Electricity Market (NEM) by providing fast-acting energy and ancillary services, including energy arbitrage and contingency and regulation Frequency Control Ancillary Services (FCAS). These capabilities help integrate more renewable energy into the grid while placing downward pressure on electricity costs for Queensland consumers.

Brendale’s revenue is underpinned by a long-term battery revenue swap with Gunvor Group, balancing contracted and merchant exposure while preserving Akaysha Energy’s ability to optimise participation across energy and FCAS markets.
