Orana BESS


Construction has commenced on Akaysha Energy's large-scale BESS near Wellington in central-west NSW. The Orana BESS will have a capacity of 415MW and provide 4 hours or 1660MWh of energy storage.
The Orana BESS project is 2km north-east of Wellington within the Central West Orana Renewable Energy Zone (REZ).
Located near Wellington, New South Wales, Orana BESS is one of Australia's largest operating battery energy storage systems. Situated on the edge of the Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone, the project supports the integration of renewable energy into the grid and strengthens energy reliability for consumers.
Wellington is located on a robust part of the TransGrid 330kV transmission system and Orana BESS shares a boundary with the TransGrid substation.
