Glenrowan BESS

  • Glenrowan Bess 01

  • Glenrowan Bess 02

Akaysha Energy is developing the Glenrowan BESS in collaboration with BZ Renewables. The Glenrowan BESS will have a capacity of 400MW/1600MWh and will connect into the existing Glenrowan Terminal Station. It will provide grid stability services, storing energy from nearby electricity generation projects and the grid, and discharging energy to the grid during times of peak demand.

The Glenrowan BESS will occupy an area of 10 hectares, approximately nine kilometres south west of Glenrowan and five kilometres north east of Winton, within the Rural City of Benalla, Victoria.

The site is surrounded by established solar farms and undulating hills, mitigating its visual impact from the Hume Freeway.

Halys BESS

Akaysha is developing a large scale BESS adjacent to the Halys Substation in Queensland’s South Burnett Region. The BESS will support the rapid expansion of solar and wind projects leveraging existing transmission infrastructure in the South Burnett area built for conventional energy. The BESS will ensure cost efficient delivery of renewable energy to customers in Queensland while supporting the network.

The proposed Halys BESS project is 400MW/1,600MWh and located on Oakey Creek Back Road, Ellesmere adjacent to the existing Halys Substation.

Wurdong BESS

A CG render of the Wurdong BESS
Akaysha is proposing to deploy a large-scale BESS near Wurdong Heights in the Gladstone Region in QLD, with a capacity of between 400MW/1600MWh. Akaysha is consulting with the community, completing environmental surveys for planning approval and proceeding with the connection process.

The proposed site is adjacent to the Wurdong Substation, providing additional storage capacity for the National Electricity Market and increasing energy reliability for the local community.

Brinkworth BESS

The proposed Brinkworth Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) will have a capacity of 250MW/1000MWh and provide up to 4 hours of energy storage for the BESS, and generate up to 200MWp for the Solar Farm.

The Project is proposed to be located 5km north-west of the Brinkworth township, and directly adjacent to the Brinkworth Substation, a robust part of the ElectraNet 275kV transmission system.

Palmerston BESS

Akaysha is developing an advanced 100MW/200MWh BESS at the Palmerston Terminal Station in Tasmania. The BESS facility is intended to use the latest grid forming inverter technology offering Virtual Synchronous Machine (VSM) services to the Tasmanian network.

The Palmerston BESS will aim to provide system strength and inertia services to the Tasmanian region, supporting the connection of new renewables as part of Tasmania’s 200% renewable objective.

The proposed site is located in the T3 Central Highlands Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) as proposed by the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO). It is also adjacent to Palmerston Terminal Station reducing the need for long distance power lines and mitigating visual impacts.
